Having your own buckwheat pillow is actually recommended if you are having back pains, headaches, sleeplessness, snoring, muscle tension and other problems.
This type of pillow has natural benefits compared to that of a foam or fiberfill pillow. One major benefit is that it has is it matches the proper contour of your head and neck, thus, giving you passive support while you are lying down or sleeping. Unlike ordinary pillows, buckwheat pillows give you equal amount of comfort and support in all areas instead of just one. Moreover, a buckwheat pillow won’t misalign your posture while you are sleeping.
What is Buckwheat?
Buckwheat is actually a fruit in relation to rhubarb. It is not a grain, as most people think. A buckwheat pillow consists of hulls of this particular fruit and this means those people who are allergic to grains will not experience allergic reactions to buckwheat hulls. Although there are small amounts of flour that are left behind in the hulls due to processing, most people are able to deal with this with no problem.
Temperature
One advantage of a buckwheat pillow is that it can be cooled and heated. Why is this helpful? Cooling your buckwheat pillow in the freezer or heating it in your microwave can actually provide temporary relief for certain types of pain.
Care for Your Buckwheat Pillow
Compared to synthetic pillows, buckwheat pillows invite fewer mites. This is because buckwheat hulls are naturally resistant to them. It is imperative, however, that if your buckwheat pillow has been stored outside for a long period of time to place it in your freezer to avert a possible infestation.
The buckwheat pillow works well in any type of bed, including waterbeds, air beds, air mattresses or memory foam. Further, buckwheat pillows can last up to at least 10 years.
Remember that once you have a buckwheat pillow, you might not able to live without its comfort!
